Silicare™ (2019) 11mins, 19 secs

Silicare™ is a fictional healthcare company and body of work that explores the underlying anxieties of health commodification and its hyper-capitalised regimes.

Consequently, cross-hatched with hypochondria and eco-instability. The film features hand-cast silicon wearables, 3D-scanned from the wearers’ faces. It comments on the dark reality of hyper-capitalism through a cynical, dryly comical narrative framework. Algorithmic advertising spirals into climate instability and health concerns. Consumer-product detritus slips into the watery depths of hydrofeminsm and pseudoscience.

This work was made as part of the MA programme at the Royal College of Art. This film features Martina Maru, Xu Yang + Jess Shead and is narrated by Grace Woodcock.
